The studio of the painter Albert Maignan in Saint-Prix was built in 1894. It is an atypical building located in the heart of the old village, backing onto the Montmorency forest, and designed to provide a bright workspace suited to the painter's works, often large format. This residence reflects the aspiration of late 20th-century artists to combine professional and private life, an extremely modern and contemporary concept. It is here, in this studio, that his major work 'The Voices of the Tocsin' was painted.
