Berlin, Germany

The penthouse is located in the front side of a beautiful, historic and stuccoed “Berlin-style” building that dates back to around 1900. After an extensive renovation of the facade, staircases and elevator enclosure, this glorious building is once again revealing its splendor while blending in perfectly with the street scene. Hidden behind a beautiful wooden frame and panel door that can only be opened by a door handle code is the private elevator that’s available for use to three parties. Outfitted with French herringbone parquet flooring and milky white glass walls, it has something of a mini Apple Store feel to it. Upon arriving at the penthouse floor, a small corridor to the two apartments awaits you.The apartment itself begins with an extended entrance area that includes all amenities such as a guest toilet, a daytime wardrobe and various storage areas. A naturally pigmented troweling technique on the walls and concrete floors harmonizes perfectly with the American walnut wood appliques, which reveal themselves throughout the penthouse - in this case, it’s the steps to the fifth floor.Behind an industrial window door that’s as tall as the room, the approximately 100 m² cooking, living, and dining area begins. This area has been completely outfitted with walnut parquet.Historical steel columns support the ceiling height of up to 3.85 m while simultaneously providing a visual divider between the cooking and living area. In addition to six cooling drawers, the fully equipped design kitchen has a high-quality induction cooktop with an integrated air suction system as well as ample storage areas. The highlight, however, is the material composition. The material, known as “Richlite,” has very strong properties; its roots are in the aviation industry. It is dirt-resistant, extremely shock and impact-resistant, heat-resistant up to more than 170°C, has a soft appearance and feels like wood. To complement the design, there are walnut wood inserts in the drawers. Even if you don’t particularly enjoy cooking, you’ll find yourself busy here.
