Pat Stewart began her real estate business from a one-person shop in February 1973 in what had been a small service station.
Within a few months two young ladies got their licenses and joined Pat. In a short time the firm grew to more than a dozen agents.
Within three years she and two partners, not realtors, purchased three adjoining properties in another section of the city. Time marched on and Pat decided to move her office in the service station to one of the three buildings purchased earlier. She no longer could house her sales people at the original site. She talked with her partners about buying them out. She sold one building to a church group, rented the second, and used the largest structure for her real estate office. In the process, she bought her partners out with a payment that doubled their initial investment.
The people of the Morgantown area have been great through the years and supported the firm. She has been the local real estate board president as well as state president in West Virginia. She established the Community Newcomers Club which has remained active for nearly 35 years. Also, she served as president of the local Chamber of Commerce and now after almost forty years, Pat Stewart, Realtors® remains the longest continuing real estate firm in the Morgantown area.
