Berlin, Germany

The architect Wassili Luckhardt planned and built in the years 1956-57 one of the most important listed Berlin artist houses, in which he lived until his death in 1972 himself. Here, Luckhardt created in the form of a reinforced concrete skeleton construction a broad bungalow with a flat roof, in which he made the materials steel, glass, concrete and natural stone to the essential features of the house and thus consistently connected to the Modernist committed buildings of the 1920s. A special feature of the property is the arrangement of the bungalow in the back of the approximately 1,808 square meters of land. Wassili Luckhardt wanted to make the garden into an extended living space with this deliberately chosen arrangement and a huge, continuous window area. Another consciously chosen stylistic device for a generous sense of space is the design of the garden. A carpet-like lawn with a wonderful old trees to support the feeling of the living space. Beautifully, the view into the garden can be enjoyed in the evening. Well thought out and accentuated, the exterior lighting has been integrated here. The transition between the house and the garden is formed by the spacious terrace made of roughly hewn natural stones. The lightness and transparency typical of the new way of building the 1950s can also be experienced inside the house. The living rooms, such as the living and dining room, as well as the then used as a drawing room by Wassili Luckhardt office are separated by sliding glass wall panels and thus provide, coupled with the view of the large garden, a generous sense of space with opportunities for retreat. The kitchen adjoins open to the dining room, the slightly recessed arrangement allows a visual separation, but allows the wide view into the garden. The modern SieMatic fitted kitchen is equipped with Miele appliances. Particularly noteworthy is the located on the back of the spacious sleeping area with a directly adjacent high quality equipped bathroom. A separate dressing area is also adjacent. Another room and a guest bathroom with tub and shower complete the clearly structured ground floor and additionally ensure a pleasant living comfort. Just like the ground floor, the basement area also boasts many details and high comfort. This was expanded and expanded during the renovation in 2008 to 2010. For the personal well-being a high-quality worked small pool with Gegenstromanlage and massage function as well as a sauna and a fitness area provides. Relax then in another room with an integrated kitchenette and wet bar. The direct access to the garden allows for a well-rounded wellness experience. Furthermore, in the basement is a studio with two small rooms separated by a half wall and a modern shower room and a pantry. The house also has a garage, which can be reached via a driveway along the garden, separated by the characteristic wire mesh fence. There was a comprehensive renovation from 2008 to 2010. It is a monument. The monument protection extends inwards, over the garage to the garden fence. As part of this renovation, all monument protection requirements were fulfilled and restored with great attention to detail, according to the original plans. In summary, the property offered here is a unique, unique building, which, with its numerous details, represents an outstanding example of Bauhaus architecture.
