Lincoln City is located on the Central Oregon Coast, between seven miles of sandy beaches with 15 public beach accesses and scenic Devils Lake. The beauty and activities along the shoreline are ever changing with the seasons. The beaches offer treasures such as driftwood; agates, shells and floats for the treasure hunting enthusiasts, there are many locations for watching the waves, whales, sunsets and exciting winter storms.

Devils Lake is 1/3 mile wide, 3 miles long, and reaches a depth of only 22 feet. The lake offers freshwater fishing, water sports such as windsurfing, water skiing, knee-boarding and jet skiing. Flowing from Devils Lake is the “D” River which holds the title of the “World’s Shortest River”. This river flows from Devils Lake and reached its destination to the Pacific Ocean in only 120 feet.

Lincoln City was incorporated on March 3, 1965, uniting the former cities of Delake, Oceanlake and Taft, and the unincorporated communities of Cutler City and Nelscott. These were adjacent communities along Hwy 101, which serves as Lincoln City’s main street. The name “Lincoln City” was chosen by entries made by the school children because using any of the community names would end up being too controversial.

There many recreational opportunities in Lincoln City, from crabbing, bird watching, glass blowing classes, swimming, boating, golfing, tide pooling, and hiking to golfing at two acclaimed courses (Salishan Spa & Golf Resort and Chinook Winds Golf Resort).
