Welcome to Grand Mesa, CO
Home to the largest flat-topped mountain in the world, Grand Mesa, Colorado is a beautiful landmark with numerous amounts of outdoor activities to offer. The Grand Mesa is “an island in the sky,” with 200 lakes neatly arranged around and on top of it with pine forests and hunting trails surrounding the land. Throughout the year, Grand Mesa is the mecca for everything outdoors.
In the spring, summer and fall months, native rainbow trout are stocked in the stream-fed lakes of the Grand Mesa. A true hunter’s paradise, the area is home to an abundance of wildlife and offers hunting for deer and elk when in season. Horseback riding, bike trails and rock climbing make Grand Mesa a unique and exciting place to explore.
As for the winter months, Powerderhorn Ski Resort offers downhill and cross country skiing and snowmobiling atop and around the Grand Mesa area. As the third forest reserve created in the United States, The Grand Mesa National Forest covers most of Grand Mesa and was established in 1892. The beautiful and colorful layers that have formed are an impressive result of volcanic action during the time the Rocky Mountains were formed millions of years ago.
