About Lynnwood, Washington
A progressive, bustling city and the hub of transportation and commerce, Lynnwood, Washington covers 7.7 square miles and has over 34,000 residents. Tucked behind the major streets and shrouded in trees, are private, quaint neighborhoods in which residents take refuge. Just minutes away, are unspoiled natural areas. White water rivers, boating, wildlife, salmon fishing, and skiing are easily accessible from Lynnwood (less than 20 minutes away).
Lynnwood is located in Snohomish County which was organized in January of 1861. In 1889, William Morrice purchased 100 acres that became the future site of Alderwood Mall, the largest shopping center in north Seattle. Incorporated as a city in 1959, I-5 and I-405 development spawned the growth of over 2,500 businesses and a daytime population of workers, shoppers, and students of more than 150,000. Nestled between the Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound, Lynnwood is also just thirty minutes from Seattle Premium Outlets in Tulalip.
Devoted to preserving its history, in 1997, Lynnwood developed a Historical Commission that has since partnered with several private businesses in preservation efforts. Just east of I-5, locals and visitors can visit Heritage Park and experience a historical resource unparalleled elsewhere in South Snohomish County. The Interurban Trail once used by the Interurban railway is now a biking and walking trail. Convenient public transportation, affordable homeownership, diverse housing opportunities, and a solid infrastructure attract manufacturers, retailers, and homeowners to Lynnwood and will for years to come.
