The city of Greendale is called the gateway to Southeast Indiana with a population of 4,296. It was platted in 1852 by a group of industrialists, headed by Stephen Ludlow, looking for location for their businesses. I-275 links Greendale with Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and the airport to the south, and the western suburbs of Cincinnati are to the north. Historic houses blend with affordable, newer homes in Greendale, situated atop a ridge near the Ohio River. Residents are proud of their neighborhood and do their part in keeping Greendale an attractive and well-kept community. It is approximately 5.81 square miles. Its business corridor is thriving and boasts a new cinema with 10 screens all with stadium seating (812- 532-SHOW). The community celebrates Fourth of July with a 5K walk, fishing derby and bike parade ending with fireworks. Greendale is a Tree City community and it has a new firehouse. It is updating its infrastructure, working to develop roads and make sidewalk improvements. Greendale’s portion of the Dearborn Trails is about one mile and is atop the levy parallel to U.S. 50. The trail ends at the entrance to Argosy Casino. A home in Greendale, Indiana averages about $143,000 (July, 2008). If you plan on moving with children the school district consists of the Lawrenceburg Community Schools. The drive to downtown Cincinnati and the nearest airport is 20–30 minutes.
