Jacksonville, also known as the River City, lines both banks of the St. Johns River. It’s Florida’s most populous city and its leading financial and insurance center.
Jacksonville has one of the lowest overall costs of living in Florida, with housing and utilities contributing to this distinction. In the last five years, more than 50,000 new jobs have been created by companies expanding or moving into the city. The city’s appeal has been recognized by national media, including a repeated ranking among the “top 10 best places to live” by Money magazine.
A wide variety of homes and neighborhoods are available, from estate homes on the river and oceanfront, condominiums throughout the city, quiet rural acreage and more.
Do you remember the days of hopping in your hot rod and cruising up and down Main St? If you do, or you'd like to step back in time, your chance is coming up soon. June 23, 2012 will be the first of what will be the monthly Main St Cruise in the Historic Springfield district in Jacksonville. Back in the day, Main St was the place to show off your car, grab a burger at the Krystal, and then cruise up and down the street. Now you can do it again.
That night from 6 to 10 p.m. from Main St at First St north all the way to the Krystal, dozens and dozens of hot cars and vintage trucks and maybe a few motorcycles will be cruising. Krystal is supplying 400 free burgers for the event. Don't have a hot rod? Then come tail gate and watch the cruise from any of the local businesses. Eateries lining Main St will be open, from Hola's Mexican Restaurant, Uptown Market, and Kool Beans north to Krystal.
Want to really relive those days? "American Graffiti" will be showing in a vacant lot on Main St. Bring your chairs or blankets and settle in with your family. Live music will be nearby before the movie and vendors of all types will be there too.
Be there for what will be the first of many cruises, the 4th Saturday in each month! A family friendly night out with friends and a walk into the past!
