A visionary for the town, Howelsen built a jump on what it now referred to as Howelsen Hill, and launched Steamboat Springs career in ski recreation.  In 1963, builder and designers Jim Temple and John Fetcher, brought Steamboat Springs further into prominence by establishing The Steamboat Ski Resort, which now brings over a million visitors each season.
