As one of the newest additions to Arizona’s official cities, Maricopa became Arizona’s 88th incorporated city in 2003. The City of Maricopa is located 20 miles south of Phoenix and 20 miles northwest of Casa Grande. Although this is a new city, the land in this area was previously used as a stage stop for the Butterfield Overland Mail Line between San Antonio and San Diego. Now, the City of Maricopa serves as one of the most productive farming areas in the entire state of Arizona. Cotton, grains, vegetables, and beef, are just some of the items that Maricopa produces and supplies. In terms of real estate, Maricopa offers quality homes without the hefty price tag, a real draw for first-time home buyers and investors alike.
